Shaken  – not stirred. Really?

Controversy surrounds James Bond’s famous tagline.  Although the original quote from Sir Ian Fleming’s novel, Diamonds Are Forever reflects the author’s preference, many bartenders contend that if a Martini is shaken the alcohol becomes “bruised” – something which agent 007 could never abide. However, the film producers decided at any rate that the line “shaken not stirred” sounded better for the movie, so Bond changed the way this classic has been ordered ever since.  The Martini consistently ranks as the number one cocktail in the world.
